When I first saw turbans and headscarves on blogs and in magazines I thought they looked pretty ridiculous and totally unwearable in real life. Then I saw Mademoiselle Robot wearing them and totally fell in love with the look. She is so cool and her turbans totally spice up her outfits!
I did feel a bit strange wearing it. Going down the stairs I told my honey that I was just going to pretend to still be in NYC where nobody looks at you twice, no matter what you wear. We walked out the front door and a cyclist stared at me so intensely that he almost had an accident. Fail.
On a side note, how amazing is this graffiti?! I've always loved sunflowers and when I saw this house I knew that I needed to do a photo shoot there. There are actually a lot of houses in my new neighborhood that are completely covered in great graffiti!
All photos taken by my honey, thanks! x
Dress: Monsoon, Wedges: Thrifted, Scarf: Have had it for at least 10 years. I have no idea where it came form. Probably a present?!
What do you think about headscarves and fashion turbans?
P.S. Check out how I styled this dress before HERE.

Ya know, I thought I would never wear a turban either...but once I tried just one, I am forever addicted. I love how you tied yours in the back like that...and I love the orange/yellow. Looks absolutely amazing with your black dress...which is also gorgeous. The graffiti is very cool:)

You rock the urban turban! I haven't tried one, but I think I will. It's so sophisticated. I can't get over the location of your shoot. That's the best graffiti ever!
ReplyDeleteThat graffiti is INCREDIBLE. I would jump at the chance to go there, too. And don't worry, you worked the scarf perfectly. That biker just didn't know how to behold the awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe grafiti is amazing! And the pics of you are gorgeous. Love the way you wore the EBEW lace pick :).
ReplyDeletelove the head band!!!! matching with sunflower too <3
ReplyDeleteAmazing, amazing photo location! I love how stark the black is against all the color. And for real, good call on the turban. You're rocking it in a way I'm pretty sure I never could (alas).
ReplyDeletesweet! lets meet at 4 at Hagen Daaz, get coffee and then check this exhibit out. i'm excited!
ReplyDeletexxx
You look fantastic! Great outfit and great location.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the turban trend, but unsure whether I can pull it off with my super fine hair, as strange as that sounds. It seems to me like it wouldn't suit me as much because of it.
i believe turban should be worn with confident . luckily i wont have to worry about people reaction about me wearing a turban because its part of traditional middle eastern outfit , so its nothing new or strange
ReplyDeleteCute outfit!
ReplyDeleteI really like headscarves on other people, but I'm a bit scared to try it out myself. I'm pretty sure I'd look ridiculous...
In my opinion, there's only a few people who can wear this and get away with it. You're doing a marvelous job :)
you look stunning! That dress with the wall in your back, make a perfect contrast and combination! :D Love it! I'm following1
ReplyDeleteLook my blog and if you like it, follow me! :)

p.s. Would love to stay in touch, following you now!
the background and the outfit are PERFECT. next time, smile at the person staring. Then they get all awkward. In NYC everyone stares, but you just get so used to it that you smile at them and it gets them to quit it.
ReplyDeleteseriously, that sunflower mural is AMAAAZING.
You look so cute =) That mural is so awesome I absolutely love sunflowers!
ReplyDeleteamazing graffiti! loving the head scarf! :) I love tubans but am not brave enough to wear them other than in black! ha :)

ReplyDeleteWOAH! That wall art is awesome! What a perfect place to wear that outfit! I love the bohemian vibe. I love turbans so much. I've been looking for a good one but I'm mad at wearing headbands and things because things never stay on my head correctly lol. I love that dress. So pretty!

ReplyDeleteI totally get what you mean about turbans seeming a bit unwearable--but then I see some blogger like you pull it off so well it always makes me rethink that! I love the colorful pop it adds to your outfit, and that dress has such gorgeous lace details!

ReplyDeletethese photos are incredible!! i nearly gasped when i saw that amazing bright graffiti, and your bright headscarf and yellow shoes look amazing with the black dress against that backdrop. just gorgeous, all of it :)
ReplyDeletei always associate headscarves with hippies, and used to wear them a lot more back in my more bohemian days, but the turbans of today are decidedly more chic and that makes it difficult for me to pull them off. i'm just not chic enough! you look TRES tres chic in this look. it's all about balance, i think.
Oh wow! Thank you so much everyone! I am really happy that you all like these photos :) xxx
