As I've said before, I get very inspired by films and also by art. So todays style muse is Cy Twombly, an American artist whose paintings I first fell in love with when I saw them at the Modern Museum of Art in New York City a few years back .
My mind is usually in a state of total chaos so I can really identifying with some of these paintings...I especially like how he mixes painting with drawing and writing. Twombly's paintings manage to reach me on an emotional level which rarely happens when I look at modern art.
I absolutely adore the way he uses such bright colors. Wouldn't you love to wear those colors?
What are some of your favorite artists?
P.S. I am completely overwhelmed by all of your wonderful comments and having reached 100 followers! Thank you so much! xxx

ReplyDeleteStunning pieces. I love abstract expressionism and I like the way some of these pieces expand on the genre. The clouds are marvellous, very emotive and they inspire me to write.

I just read a book about Cy Twombly! I think my mind would probably resemble one of his painting, too.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I have a favorite artist, but I really love Georges Seurat at the moment:) xx

I love the use of colour in these paintings, and I bet upclose the texture of the surface is so harsh and thick of paint... lovely! Really expressive. I'm a big fan of some of Tony Cragg's sculptures, esp the abstract bronze sculptures!!
ReplyDeletei've not heard of him but i really like it. my mind is sort of seeing images within the shapes. i'm mostly into surrealism and contemporary sculptures. dali is my fav

Yes, yes - gorgeous use of color. The first painting in particular would be awesome as a printed wrap-dress. Pair it with brown tights and boots and it'd be absolute autumn perfection.
ReplyDeleteLately I find myself happily gazing at the works of John Constable and Winslow Homer.
I LOVE IT <3
